There’s money in rubbish

1st July 2016 | Recycling

Although we are aware of the obvious rubbish items can be recycled and reused (cardboard, paper, tin, glass, plastics etc), what about the odd things and what can you do with them? Tom Szaky set up his company in America to collect those apparently unusable items (cigarette stubs, coffee capsules, biscuit wrappers), process them down into a material which can be used to produce bags, benches and bins.
And there are plenty of examples of other companies setting up in the recycling field, where food packaging, for example, is made from biodegradable matter, so that it can just be thrown in with food scraps, rather than separated.
