New waste to energy site in Nottinghamshire

3rd June 2016 | Recycling

Greg Clark MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, has approved Peel Environmental’s plans for 9.6 MW waste to energy gasification facility in Nottinghamshire. There will be two parts to the Bilsthorpe Energy Centre: a Materials Recycling Facility which will produce fuel and recover recyclable materials which would normally be sent to landfill. The second is a waste to energy gasification facility which will use the fuel to create electricity and heat.
117,000 tonnes of waste will be diverted from landfill and recover up to 22,000 tonnes of recyclable materials each year.
