Farm biogas electricity rises 40 per cent

29th July 2016 | Commercial Energy

Electricity produced from farm biogas rose 40 per cent in 2015 compared to 2014. The Government’s annual Digest of UK Energy Statistics (DUKES) shows the generation of heat from anaerobic digestion more than doubling.
The Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) Market Report shows that the industry has continued to grow in early 2016: however, prospects for future growth are uncertain due to Government policy being unclear. The Government took the view in 2015 that the renewables industry didn’t require further support, meaning that a significant amount of potential capacity could be lost over the next few years.
