Brexit could encourage companies to pollute and waste more

According to a new report, British companies may end up creating more trash and dirtying the air and water in the wake of Brexit. Two years ago, the EU set targets for reducing waste and increasing recycling and the UK pushed back, saying it would be too expensive for businesses to comply.
And if the UK no longer has to comply with EU laws, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a relaxation of recycling targets and air pollution laws. It’s relatively well-known that the UK has struggled to implement some of the EU’s directives: in January, just eight days into the new year, London had already breached the EU’s air pollution targets.
